Impact Report
Univital™ 2025 Impact Report
Humans. Oceans. Planet.
Building a regenerative blue bioeconomy that connects human health with ocean vitality.
Executive Summary
Univital™ is developing marine bioactives from sustainably harvested sea urchins, creating clean, science-backed ingredients that promote human health and regenerate ocean ecosystems.
Our mission bridges biotechnology and sustainability aligning human wellness with ocean conservation through circular processes and responsible innovation.
Our Science & Mission
At the heart of Univital’s work lies a simple belief: that the ocean holds keys to advancing human health. Through ongoing research on marine antioxidants such as echinochrome A and spinochromes, we are exploring their potential to support cardiovascular, neurological, and cellular resilience.
Our lab-to-market approach ensures that every innovation from supplements to skincare advances both scientific understanding and environmental restoration.
Aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals
We’re proud to contribute to global sustainability through measurable commitments across the following focus areas:
Good Health & Well-Being (SDG 3)
Advancing natural marine ingredients that promote cellular resilience and human vitality.
Responsible Consumption & Production (SDG 12)
Designing circular processes that reduce waste and reuse ocean resources responsibly.
Climate Action (SDG 13)
Developing low-impact extraction and renewable energy models for sustainable production.
Life Below Water (SDG 14)
Protecting marine ecosystems through regenerative sourcing partnerships.
Life on Land (SDG 15)
Repurposing marine byproducts into agricultural and soil-rebuilding materials.
Sustainable Sourcing & Circular Economy
Univital’s extraction process is designed around circular principles ensuring, zero-waste principles ensuring every part of the sea urchin is used to its fullest potential. Bioactive pigments are carefully extracted for supplements and skincare, while the shells and spines, naturally rich in minerals and pigments, are also incorporated into supplement formulations. Any remaining material is then upcycled into sustainable fertilizers and marine calcium compounds that help restore and enrich the soil.
By working with local fisheries and coastal partners, we’re helping to turn ocean waste into regenerative materials closing the loop from sea to soil.
Research & Innovation
Our collaboration with leading institutions, including the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, supports our research into the pharmacological potential of marine-derived compounds. Through continuous lab validation and regulatory readiness (GRAS and NDI pathways), we aim to bring credible, evidence-based marine nutraceuticals to market.
Community & Ocean Stewardship
We believe that meaningful impact extends beyond products. Univital partners with local coastal communities to support sustainable harvesting, education, and future reef regeneration initiatives.
By aligning science with stewardship, we aim to empower both people and the planet one innovation at a time.
Looking Ahead
In 2025–2026, Univital™ will expand pilot production, finalize GRAS and NDI regulatory submissions, and scale partnerships across North America to advance ocean-based biotechnology. Our long-term goal is to establish the first regenerative marine bioprocessing network on the Pacific Coast setting a global standard for sustainable marine innovation.
